Mini-break in Margaret River
I just got back from a short two-night trip to Margaret River, a beautiful region 300 km south of Perth that takes my breath away every time I go there. For those of you (that’s you, dad!) who think that Australia is just one big red desert, you couldn’t be more wrong.
(Generally when people talk about Margaret River, they are referring to the region, although there is a small town of the same name in the centre of the region and, perhaps not surprisingly, a river. I found this name-sharing somewhat confusing when I first arrived in Perth.)
Rather than write a post today, I thought I’d share some of my holiday pics. Nature is amazing.
In other exciting news, whilst we were away my boyfriend asked me to marry him, and I said yes.
Well posted :P :D congrats! what better place the do so eh?
Additionally, that must be a really nice camera, the pictures are so clear and detailed :)
Thanks! Couldn’t agree more : )
My camera isn’t super fancy (it’s not an SLR) but I’m really pleased with it, it does take great pics. Took me about 6 months of contemplating and research before I committed to buying it, though. It’s a Panasonic Lumix GX1 with a Lumix G 14mm lens. That makes me sound like I know what I’m talking about, but I only know the names cost they’re printed on the front!
And the photos are really pretty!
I look forward to your challenge of a plastic-free wedding!
I was going to say . . . . are you not going to tell us what happened while you were away!
Ah, that was a reward for people who got the the bottom of the page!
Beautiful photos, thanks for mentioning the camera you use (I have a couple of friends who have Lumix’s, now I’m in “want” mode). And, congratulations!
PS, could you some time share the names of the flowering plants?
I don’t know any! Which reminds me, I want to get some books from the library so I can find out! Actually I do know one, that red furry looking plant is called “Kangaroo Paw”. You see them in Perth a bit (and yellow ones too) but I have never seen one quite that bright red before.
The first pink one is a weed,
the second purple one is a hardenbergia,
the third red one is a running-postman (kennedia),
the fourth yellow one is some form of wattle (acacia),
the fifth white one is also a weed (arum lily),
the sixth is a kangaroo paw,
the seven is probably another hardenbergia,
and the eighth white one is a hakea trifurcata :)
as far as I’m aware that is :P
It’s funny that you say they’re weeds. I had one of those lilies in a pot in the UK and considered it to be quite fancy! I found it bizarre that they grow everywhere down south. Thanks so much for the names : )
